The Godavari Alumni Association (GAA), founded in 1964, stands as one of Nepal’s pioneering non-state, not-for-profit organizations. What initially began as a modest social club for alumni of St. Xavier’s School, Lalitpur , primarily a space for watching English films and engaging in sports has since evolved into a dynamic, purpose-driven institution, steadfast in its commitment to the guiding principle of the school’s motto: “Live for God, Lead for Nepal.”

The GAA is deeply invested in the betterment of society, particularly in elevating underprivileged communities and extending its support to esteemed educational institutions such as St. Xavier’s and St. Mary’s schools. Alumni from both schools, Xavierian’s and Marian’s, converge at GAA to contribute their time, knowledge, and resources, endeavoring to make a lasting, positive impact on both their communities and the nation.

The GAA Hall in Thamel serves as the vibrant epicenter of this mission, acting as a nexus for alumni engagement. The Hall regularly hosts a myriad of events from sports tournaments and picnics to musical concerts, offering both a space for recreation and a forum for intellectual and cultural exchange. It is also a sanctuary for reconnecting with old friends and forging enduring bonds.

Each year, GAA orchestrates a Welcome Party for Grade 10 graduates from St. Xavier’s and St. Mary’s, introducing them to the association and its rich legacy. Additionally, the organization honors the achievements of Grade 12 pass-outs, celebrating their transition from high school with a commemorative farewell event that marks the culmination of their academic journey. These gatherings foster a deep sense of continuity and belonging, ensuring that every alumnus feels embraced by the larger GAA community.

The GAA operates under a transparent and democratic framework, where a voting system for Board of Directors (BOD) members ensures fair representation and sound governance. Weekly meetings are held, with detailed minutes presented to maintain an open channel of communication and accountability.

With an ever-growing membership of GAA, we continue to serve as a beacon of service, leadership, and camaraderie, dedicated to empowering youth, nurturing lifelong friendships, and contributing meaningfully to both educational and social causes.
